Loessin Herefords: Our History

The current generation of the Loessin family has been raising cattle in the Colorado County, Texas area for more than fifty years.  In 1979, owners Otto and Jon Loessin acquired their first registered Hereford seed stock and began raising and marketing Hereford cattle primarily for commercial breeders.  After more than ten successful years, the herd was dispersed in its entirety to two nearby Hereford breeders. 

That was in 1995--and some of the cows sold then are STILL in the herd of one purchaser and producing great calves every year (although mostly of Black Hereford breeding now).

In 2005, the Loessins began acquiring their current herd and rebuilding Loessin Herefords.

If history repeats itself, success and quality is once again, just around the corner.
